Join the battles at Old Fort Niagara

Come out and visit a National Historic Landmark, Old Fort Niagara! Old Fort Niagara played a very important role in the struggles of France, Great Britain, and the United States to control the Great Lakes Region of North America. The fort spans more than 300 years old. This New York State historic site welcomes more than 100,000 visitors each year. Old Fort Niagara is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Niagara Region. The three flags flown daily above the parade ground symbolize the involved nations. Old Fort Niagara was the American Soldiers barracks and training center throughout both World Wars. In 1926 and 1934 Old Fort Niagara was restored and today now completely owned by a non-profit organization. Old Fort Niagara features one of the oldest buildings in the Great Lakes with spectacular scenery and exciting special events. One of their special events is the French and Indian War Encampment. They also do other encampments and reenactments. Also Old Fort Niagara has a collection of various artifacts, structures and documentary materials. Part of the collection includes 73 pieces of artillery, 95 small arms and edged weapons, 155 pieces of military clothing, 61 pieces of equipment and 752 pieces of furniture. To round off the collection the library includes 7,800 pieces of photography, 2,650 books and periodicals and 3,500 manuscript items. Old Fort Niagara is a fantastic place to take the family for a fun historic learning! Old Fort Niagara is also a good place for schools to go on field trips. Myself took a few field trips their and the experience was incredible and so surreal. The feeling makes it seem like you’re in that moment of time. Also all the buildings and historic pieces are amazing.  Just the thought of how much history is their when you step onto the battle fields is incredible!
